Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday ordered an investigation into the death threat made to Congress MLA and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah. He also stated that the Congress leader would be adequately protected. CM Bommai met with the Congress leader as well.
This comes after Siddaramaiah expressed fears for his safety following the throwing of eggs at his car and the waving of black flags while he was visiting Kodagu.
CM Bommai said the state government takes the issue extremely seriously and has promised Siddaramaiah a thorough probe in this regard. He told the media that he urged Siddaramaiah to reveal all the details of the threat calls and that he would thoroughly investigate them.
CM Bommai left no stone unturned as he talked to the Director General of Police about law and order. “No one should take the law into their own hands on this matter. It is happening from both sides. I have asked the DGP to give instructions to all SPs (Superintendent of Police) in this regard, and to give adequate security or additional security to the Leader of Opposition in the backdrop of the recent developments,” said Bommai.
Earlier, while speaking at an event, Siddaramaiah said, “These people killed Gandhi. Will they spare me? Godse had shot at Gandhi, but they worshipped his photo. ”
