Karnataka: The warden of a hostel in Chikkaballapur of Karnataka was suspended after a Class 9 state-run residential school student was eight months pregnant gave birth to a baby at a hospital in the city. The revelation has led to an upheaval, resulting in the suspension of the hostel warden.

The incident sheds light on a grave situation, prompting legal actions and investigations. The police have registered a Pocso case in this regard. The issue was discovered when she complained of stomach pain while arriving at her Bagepalli taluk house.

Investigation of the case revealed that the girl, enrolled in the hostel of the Social Welfare Department, had irregular attendance and often visited a relative. According to the police, following a scan, the physicians at the hospital where her parents had brought her discovered she was pregnant.

According to the details, the girl had joined the hostel a year ago, when she studied in Class 8. However, after completing school, the boy obtained a Transfer Certificate (TC) and moved to Bangalore. According to him, the hospital administration notified the police, who then filed a complaint in accordance with the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offenses Act and section 376 of the IPC, which deals with rape.

Saying about this incident, Krishnappa S, Joint Director, Social Welfare Department, Tumkur, said, “The kid was not coming to the hostel for a long time now. She is from Kashapura in Bagepalli town. She went to the hospital complaining of stomach ache, and that’s when they got to know about the pregnancy.”

He said,”We are here to probe the matter, we will submit the investigation report to the government.” The student was brought to the hospital, and on January 9, following a check-up and appropriate tests, the doctors delivered the babyThe police said they were actively searching for the boy.
