Karnataka: BJP Yuva Morcha worker Praveen Nettaru was murdered with sharp weapons by unidentified bike riders in Bellare, Dakshina Kannada, late on Tuesday evening. The Karnataka government is facing criticism from within the party over the murder. In view of this, the Chief Minister of the state Basavaraj Bommai has canceled the programs ‘Janotsava convention’ on the occasion of completion of one year of his government on Thursday.
CM Bommai called an emergency press conference on Wednesday night and informed that he has canceled the ‘Janotsav’ rally in Doddaballapur. An official event ‘Janotsava’, a mega rally at Doddaballapur, were scheduled to take place on Thursday to mark his government’s one year in office. The rally was to be attended by BJP national President JP Nadda. Along with this, it has been decided to cancel the program to be held in Vidhana Soudha as well.
The mother of the BJP leader said – whoever killed him should be hanged. He was our only son. I am not feeling well. Her father is also a heart patient. He was our last resort. There is no one left to fulfill our expectations. Bommai also announced that government will form a commando force with special training, intelligence, ammunition, resources to go after anti-national and terror groups conspiring to disrupt the peace & stir communal tensions in the state.
Bommai said- There is anger in our hearts after this murder. My government completed one year and after BS Yediyurappa came to power, it has been 3 years of BJP rule. We had planned a celebration. But considering the pain of the victim’s mother and family, I have decided to cancel Thursday’s programs. According to the police, Praveen has a poultry shop in Bellare area of Dakshina Kannada district. On Tuesday, when Praveen was returning home after closing the shop, some people on a bike came and blocked his way. He attacked Praveen with an axe. he was seriously injured. The police reached there and took Praveen to the hospital. Where doctors declared him brought dead.
On June 23, BJP leader Mohammad Anwar was stabbed to death in Karnataka’s Shivamogga. The killers had come by bike. Mohammad Anwar was the General Secretary of BJP. BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje had told the hand of fundamentalists behind this murder.
