Meanwhile, on Influenza, Medanta’s Director-Medical Education Dr. Randeep Guleria also appealed to the people to be alert. He said that at present we are facing influenza. In this, problems of fever, sore throat, cough, body ache and runny nose are coming to the fore. A steady increase is being seen in such cases.

He said that H3N2 is a type of influenza virus that we see every year around this time. It is a virus that keeps changing form over time, which is called antigenic drift. Previously encountered H1N1 virus, the current circulating strain is H3N2. Therefore it is a common influenza strain.

Dr. Randeep Guleria said that it spreads through droplets just like the corona virus. Only those people need to be careful, who already have some health problems. Wear a mask as a precaution, wash your hands frequently and maintain physical distancing. There is also a vaccine for influenza, for high-risk groups and the elderly, through which it can be avoided.
