Karnataka/Shivamogga: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Shivamogga airport in Karnataka on Monday. Apart from this, he will gift many development projects to the state. The newly built Shivamogga airport is spectacular. Before inaugurating it, PM will take a tour of the airport. PM will also give gifts of smart city projects, railway and road projects, rural water connectivity projects to the people of Shivamogga and Belagavi districts.

The airport is expected to improve connectivity and accessibility to Shivamogga and other nearby areas. During his visit, he will also lay the foundation stone of two railway projects Shikaripura-Ranibennur New Railway Line and Kotagunguru Railway Coaching Depot.

Built with the objective of making air travel affordable to all, the greenfield domestic airport at Sogane in Shivamogga has been constructed under the Centre’s UDAAN scheme.

The new airport has been developed at a cost of about Rs 450 crore. The passenger terminal building of this lotus-shaped airport can handle 300 passengers per hour. This airport is likely to improve connectivity and accessibility to Shivamogga and other nearby areas. During his visit, he will also lay the foundation stone of two railway projects Shikaripura-Ranibennur New Railway Line and Kotagunguru Railway Coaching Depot.

PM Modi to launch series of projects
The Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Ranibennur new railway line will be developed at a cost of Rs 990 crore and will provide better connectivity to the Malnad region with the Bengaluru-Mumbai main line. The Koteganguru Railway Coaching Depot in Shivamogga city will be developed at a cost of over Rs 100 crore to facilitate the start of new trains from Shivamogga and maintenance facilities in Bengaluru and Mysuru.

PM to lay foundation stones for several road development projects worth over Rs 215 crore, including construction of new bypass road connecting Bendoor-Ranibennur to Shikaripura town, widening of NH-169A from Megaravalli to Agumbe and a new bridge at Bharathipura in Tirthahalli taluk construction is included.

He will also unveil and lay foundation stones of multi-rural schemes worth over Rs 950 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission. This includes the inauguration of a scheme for Gautampura and 127 other villages and the laying of foundation stones for three other schemes to be developed at a total cost of over Rs 860 crore.

The four schemes aim to provide functional household piped water connections, which are expected to benefit a total of over 4.4 lakh people. 44 smart city projects worth over Rs 895 crore will also be inaugurated in Shivamogga.
