Karnataka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Karnataka today. During this, Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway will be dedicated to the nation. The 10-lane and 118 km long expressway has been developed at a cost of around Rs 8,480 crore. It will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru from three hours to about 75 minutes. During this, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth around Rs 16,000 crore in Karnataka.
Earlier, PM Modi had said on Saturday, Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway is an important connectivity project. It will give a new dimension to the development path of Karnataka. It will act as a catalyst for socio-economic development in the region. Modi tagged a tweet by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari saying that the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway is a part of NH-275.
Under this, four railway overbridges, nine major and 40 minor bridges and 89 underpasses and overpasses have been constructed. It aims to enhance connectivity in areas such as Srirangapatna, Coorg, Ooty and Kerala, thereby increasing the tourism potential of these areas. The Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation the redeveloped Hospet Junction to provide convenient and modern facilities to the commuters. It has been designed on the lines of the Hampi monuments.
During the Karnataka tour, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of major road projects in Mandya at around 12 noon. Will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development schemes in Hubli-Dharwad at around 3:15 pm. Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the Mysuru-Khushalnagar four-lane highway. This 92 km project will be developed at a cost of about Rs 4,130 crore. The project will increase Kushalnagar’s connectivity with Bengaluru and reduce travel time from five hours to just 2.5 hours. PM will dedicate IIT Dharwad to the nation. The foundation stone of this institute was laid by the PM in February 2019 at a cost of 850 crores.
