Karnataka: PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Shivamogga airport in Karnataka on Monday

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka on Monday and inaugurate an airport and several other development projects at Shivamogga. The Prime Minister will review and inspect the newly constructed airport, after which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of several projects at Shivamogga.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka on Monday and inaugurate an airport and several other development projects at Shivamogga. The Prime Minister will review and inspect the newly constructed airport, after which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of several projects at Shivamogga.

Modi’s one-day visit to the poll-bound state of Karnataka will see the launch of a series of new projects, including smart city projects, railway and road projects, and rural water connectivity projects in Shivamogga and Belagavi districts under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The 13th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi will also be released.

The new airport at Shivamogga has been developed at a cost of around Rs 450 crore. The passenger terminal building of the airport can handle 300 passengers per hour. A government statement said the airport will improve connectivity and accessibility to Shivamogga and other neighboring areas in the Malnad region.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of two railway projects in Shivamogga – Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Ranebennur New Line and Koteganguru Railway Coaching Depot. This new line, which will be developed at a cost of Rs 990 crore, will provide better connectivity between the Malnad region and the Bengaluru-Mumbai mainline. A coaching depot in Shivamogga city will be developed at a cost of over Rs 100 crore to help start new trains from Shivamogga and provide low maintenance facilities at Bangalore and Mysuru.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of several road development projects. The projects to be developed at a cumulative cost of over Rs 215 crore include construction of a new bypass for Shikaripura town on NH 766C connecting Byandur-Ranibennur, widening of NH-169A from Megaravalli to Agumbe and National Highway (NH ) on 169 a new bridge will be constructed at Bhartipura in Tirthahali taluk.
