Jaipur: In the aftermath of the Rajasthan assembly election, a turbulent political saga unfolds as the murder of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, shot dead in his Jaipur home, becomes a focal point for confrontation between the Congress and the BJP. On Tuesday, three motorcycle-riding miscreants targeted Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi at his Jaipur residence, unleashing a barrage of bullets. The entire shocking incident was captured on CCTV and now doing rounds on social media.
Sukhdev’s security guards retaliated, resulting in a shootout. One attacker succumbed to the confrontation, initially reported as a result of Sukhdev’s safety but later revealed to be a deliberate act by his associates.
The BJP, victorious in the recent elections, accuses the Congress of orchestrating a revenge plan following their defeat. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala shares a video where Gogamedi claims a security threat, alleging Congress CM Ashok Gehlot reduced his security.
Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena and other community outfits has called for a Rajasthan-wide bandh today, protesting the murder and demanding justice. Supporters threaten a statewide shutdown unless swift action is taken. On December 3, as election results unfolded, Gogamedi attributed the Congress’s loss to the BJP’s disregard for Karni Sena. The Karni Sena has called this bandh to demand a judicial probe.
Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra said the Rohit Godara gang has claimed responsibility for the murder and searches have been initiated to nab the two assailants who right now at large.
Meanwhile, officials said Governor Kalraj Mishra has sought a report from the DGP on the incident.
An alleged social media post of Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is going viral online in which he has claimed that he had ordered the murder of Gogamedi because the Rajput leader was supporting his gang’s enemies and was trying to strengthen them.
Gogamedi constituted Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena after he was expelled from Sri Rajput Karni Sena in 2015 over differences with its founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi.
Those who unversed, Both these outfits had protested against Deepika Padukone starrer “Padmaavat” in 2018 over alleged distortion of historical facts about the Rajput community.
