Kulgam: The Aharbal Festival was held on Monday in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district near Aharbal waterfall in an effort to increase tourism. In fact, tourism is the main source of income for Jammu and Kashmir. The ‘Mela’ was organised by the District Administration of Kulgam in collaboration with the Department of Tourism.
The festival was a joy for both locals and tourists, drawing a sizable crowd. People from different walks of life participated in this festival and showed solidarity and brotherhood.
A number of stalls were also established by various departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep, Animal Husbandry, Tourism, KVIB, Apiculture, Floriculture, and Handicrafts, showcasing the local traditional culture and cuisines of Kashmir.
The local people and the tourists visited different stalls as well. Thus, this kind of programme not only attracts tourists but also encourages local artisans, who will get a chance to show off their skills because their handmade commodities are being sold in various stalls.
The Aharbal Festival also featured painting and cycling competitions, and trekking activities as well.
The breathtaking splendour of Aharbal, which is situated on the River Veshav, is one of the most well-liked tourist destinations in Kulgam.
