New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met with government school teachers who attended training in Finland, Cambridge, and Singapore on Sunday, as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s tussle with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena continued.

The Chief Minister spoke during the event and said: “For a very long time, there was a common perception that teachers in government schools don’t require any sort of training. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia stated that there used to be seminars where knowledge was shared but no experience was gained.

After LG requested a “cost-benefit study” of teacher training in Finland, the Chief Minister declared during the occasion that “there is no better investment” than teacher training, while taking a tacit jibe at the Center.

A plan that has sparked a fresh conflict between him and the AAP government. “We have been in a position to send you (teachers) overseas since I became chief minister eight years ago.” “But I have only travelled overseas twice, once to Rome for Mother Teresa’s funeral and once to South Korea,” he emphasised in his statement.

Had the politicians given priority to education in their programmes? “India would have had a revolution long ago.” Infrastructure and the working environment have both improved since 2015. ‘Tent schools’ have turned into ‘talent schools because of the overall improvement in the education sector.

Today, students in government schools are able to take entrance exams without receiving any coaching. These improvements have come in government schools due to the teachers’ efforts.
