New Delhi: On Saturday, Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal severely criticised the central government over the arrest of his minister, Satyendar Jain. He further said that AAP later today is ready to “expose” a senior BJP leader to disclose his corruption activities in the party.

Sharing a news report on Twitter, Mr Kejriwal said that Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will today ‘expose’ a senior BJP leader who is allegedly involved in corruption.

Corruption against Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma got a contract for Covid Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits from a company connected to his family members, and the company was overpaid for purchasing the gear, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged on Saturday.

The “big expose” by the Aam Aadmi Party leader came after Arvind Kejriwal’s criticisms over the arrest of Delhi’s Health Minister, Satyendar Jain, in a money laundering case.

Citing the news report titled “Not an accused, Jain being quizzed by ED”, the Delhi Chief Minister declared that the detained minister is not a corrupt politician since the Centre has also accepted that he is not an accused in the case.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Mr. Jain in a money laundering case on May 30.

The probe agency has been blaming the minister, Mr Jain, saying that he was involved in hawala dealings with a Kolkata-based firm in 2015-16.

Jain’s arrest sparked a controversy between the ruling and opposition parties. Political foes of the BJP have alleged that the government has been using central agencies to harass opposition leaders.

Ahead of the Punjab assembly elections in January, Kejriwal had said that he had learnt from sources that Mr Jain could be arrested by the probe agency.

Kejriwal further added that “I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to throw all of us in jail together,” he said in a video message.

Earlier this week, the Delhi Chief Minister said the next target would be his deputy, Manish Sisodia. He may be framed in any case, and then arrested like Satyendar Jain.
