In a distressing incident, a two-year-old girl, belonging to a nomadic couple from Bihar, was reportedly abducted while sleeping in a wayside tent near Pettah in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in the early hours of Monday. The child was with her siblings and parents in an isolated area near the main road adjacent to All Saints College when the incident occurred after midnight.
Following the abduction, the parents and siblings immediately sought help from the nearby police station. According to one of the girl’s brothers, a person on a two-wheeler was observed moving suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.
As news of the abduction spread through television channels, police teams swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct searches. Thiruvananthapuram MLA Antony Raju confirmed that an alert had been issued to all police stations, with an ADGP-level officer coordinating the comprehensive investigation.

This incident echoes a similar tragic event a few months ago when a five-year-old girl, daughter of a migrant couple, was abducted, sexually assaulted, and killed in Aluva, Ernakulam district. The perpetrator in that case, a migrant worker from Bihar named Ashwaq Alam, was convicted and received a death sentence in November. The community is anxiously awaiting updates on the ongoing investigation to ensure the swift and safe return of the abducted two-year-old girl.
