According to the information, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized Governor Arif Mohammad Khan for ordering the resignations of the Vice Chancellors of nine universities and said that it was an undemocratic move. Vijayan said that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was misusing the post of chancellor to exercise powers in excess of his powers. It is undemocratic and an encroachment on the powers of the VCs. The post of governor is not against the government, but to uphold the dignity of the constitution. He is working like a tool of RSS.

On the other hand, Kannur University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gopinath Raveendran said that he has got the decision of the Governor of Kerala but he will not resign. Resignation of a VC is due to financial irregularities and bad behavior. None of this has happened here. This is a false allegation. The nine universities whose vice-chancellors have been asked to resign by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan include Kerala University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Kannur University, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Sri Shankaracharya Sanskrit University, Calicut University and Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University.

Let us inform that on behalf of the Governor, Kerala Raj Bhavan said in a tweet on Sunday that the Vice Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University is also included among the 9 Vice Chancellors. The tweet read, “In upholding the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s decision dated 21.10.22 in Civil Appeal No. 7634-7635, 2021 (SLP(C) No. 21108-21109) of 2022, Hon’ble Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has directed 9 Universities The Vice Chancellors have been directed to resign.”
