Kerala: On Saturday, a case have filed by Kerala police against an online channel for spreading fake news against electronic voting machines and poll officials.
The case registered at the City Cyber Crime Station in Thiruvananthapuram alleged that the online channel published a news article claiming that the electronic voting machines in the capital district were malfunctioning and there was a difference of opinion between election officials and politicians over the issue.
According to the police,the case was filed after the district collector lodged a complaint. In a Facebook post, police said that the online channel withdrew the news following legal action.
The police have also issued a warning that strict action will be taken against those who spread misleading and hate news related to the Lok Sabha elections.
Apart from this, they have started a 24×7 cyber patrolling system across the state to identify and deal with all types of cyber crimes.
