In yet another tragic incident, A pregnant woman and her husband were killed when their car suddenly caught fire in Kerala's Kannur district on Thursday. The couple, along with four others, were on their way to a hospital when the vehicle suddenly caught fire around 10.40 am near the Kannur fire station.

Kannur (Kerala) In yet another tragic incident, A pregnant woman and her husband were killed when their car suddenly caught fire in Kerala’s Kannur district on Thursday. The couple, along with four others, were on their way to a hospital when the vehicle suddenly caught fire around 10.40 am near the Kannur fire station.

As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and said that the couple sitting on the front seats were burnt to death, while four others sitting behind escaped.

According to eyewitnesses, two people sitting in the front could not open the door, while a child sitting behind and three others managed to escape.

The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Risha and her husband Preejeet, 35-year-old. He was going to a local hospital for a routine check-up.

According to locals, the woman who died was pregnant and they tried to rescue the victim-couple by opening the front door of the car but failed.

TV footage showed the locals present at the spot running towards the burning car to rescue the hapless couple who got stuck inside it.

Some of them were seen trying to open the door to rescue the man and the woman.

Police said the reasons for the fire could be ascertained only after verification by technical experts.

A top Kannur police official said, forensic experts will be able to ascertain the exact cause of the fire only after investigation. No chance will be left and all aspects will be covered in the investigation.
