New Delhi: Stone-pelting incidents on trains continued in Kerala and some miscreants damaged a window of the running Vande Bharat Express on Wednesday.
Three days after two trains were pelted with stones in northern Kannur district, the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram-bound Vande Bharat Express was similarly treated, resulting in one of its windows being damaged and raising security concerns on rail travel.
Railway officials said that the incident took place near Vatkara between 4 pm and 4.30 pm. The windows of the C-8 coach of the train were damaged in the incident, officials said.
“No one was injured in the incident. The glass was broken from outside,” he said. Visuals of the incident on TV channels showed badly damaged window panes and taped up outside.
On Sunday evening, stones were pelted at the Mangaluru-Chennai Superfast Express and the Netravati Express when the trains reached an area between Kannur South and Valapatnam in the district.
The window panes of the AC coaches of both the trains were found damaged, officials had said.
Earlier also in April this year, few incidents of stone pelting against Vande Bharat Express were reported from the state after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the train in Kerala.
