New Delhi: Automaker Kia India on Monday revealed that it has received an overwhelming response as it has received over 7,738 pre-bookings of its upcoming model carens MPV on the first day of the commencement of the order process.
The company had opened the pre-bookings for the new model on January 14 at an initial booking amount of Rs 25,000.
“We are delighted with the overwhelming response that Carens has received from customers, within the first 24 hours of starting the pre-bookings. It is the highest first-day booking we have received for any of our products in India,” Kia India Managing Director and CEO Tae-Jin Park said in a statement.
Kia Carens will be presented in 5 trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus; in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The Carens MPV will feature Kia’s latest global design language- a signature Tiger face with crown jewel LED headlamps and star map LED DRLs, along with new star map LED taillamps, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome rear bumper with diamond knurling pattern and much more. In terms of size, the Kia Carens MPV measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,708 mm in height, and boasts the longest wheelbase in the segment at 2,780 mm.
Powering the Kia Carens MPV are two petrol and one diesel engine option, that includes a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor, and a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine churns out 113 bhp with 144 Nm of torque, whereas the 1.4-litre T-GDi turbo petrol engine develops 138 bhp with 242 Nm of peak torque. The diesel mill produces 113 bhp and 250 Nm. Transmission is handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard with optional automatic 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed torque converter, respectively.
