In a distressing incident, a six-year-old girl was abducted from Pooyappally in southern Kerala, triggering a frantic search by the police. Despite intensified efforts, the child’s whereabouts remain unknown, and kidnappers, suspected to be four in number, are demanding ₹10 lakh for her safe return. The incident unfolded as the girl was abducted while heading to tuition classes with her eight-year-old brother. The police, facing challenges in locating the child, have released a sketch of a suspected kidnapper and are actively investigating all leads.

The six-year-old girl was abducted a day ago in Pooyappally, southern Kerala.

The kidnappers, believed to be four in number, arrived in a white car and targeted the girl as she went for tuition with her brother.

The brother attempted to intervene but was pushed aside by the abductors, sustaining knee injuries.

Search Efforts

Despite increased efforts, the police have been unable to trace the missing child.

A police officer mentioned that all angles are being explored in the search operation.

A sketch of a suspected kidnapper has been released to aid the investigation.

Ransom Calls

Kidnappers allegedly made two ransom calls, initially demanding ₹5 lakh and later increasing it to ₹10 lakh.
In an audio recording of the second ransom call, the kidnappers assured the girl’s safety and stated she would be returned on payment of ₹10 lakh.
The parents, who are nurses in separate private hospitals, received the ransom calls.

Chief Minister’s Directive

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directed the state police to intensify the investigation, ensuring a flawless and speedy process.
He urged the police to actively search for the girl and discouraged the spread of false information about the incident.

Intensified Police Search

Police have intensified the search in the southern districts of Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Vehicles, especially white-colored ones, are being thoroughly checked on major and minor roads in the region.
Appeal for Caution:

Concerns about the kidnapped child have led to appeals for caution, and the Chief Minister has requested people not to spread misinformation.

Visuals on television news channels have highlighted the seriousness of the situation.
As the search for the abducted child continues, the police are actively engaged in efforts to secure her safe return, and the community remains on high alert for any developments.
