Kirit Somaiya alleges attack by nearly ‘100 Shiv Sena workers’, says they wanted to kill me

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya on Sunday said Mumbai Police has refused to register his FIR after he was allegedly attacked by Shiv Sena goons.

“Mumbai Police has refused to lodge my FIR. Instead, they lodged a bogus FIR stating that only one stone was hurled. As many as 70-80 Shiv Sainiks attacked me. No action has been taken by Khar Police despite intimation. This is the third attempt by Uddhav Thackeray to take my life. Earlier in Washim, then Pune and now in Khar,” Somaiya told sources.

“Mumbai Police has refused to lodge my FIR, instead they lodged a bogus FIR stating that only one stone was hurled; 70-80 Shiv Sainiks attacked me, no action by Khar Police despite intimation,” said the BJP leader.

An FIR has been registered and investigation is underway, a Mumbai Police official said.

Kirit Somaiya also alleged that CM Uddhav Thackeray had tried to kill him and this attack was the third attempt. “Third attempt by Uddhav Thackeray to take my life- Washim, Pune and now Khar,” he said.

In a tweet, Kirit Somaiya said that he was at the Bandra Police Station and would stay in his car there till action against “police officials and Mafia Sena Gundas” is taken.

Meanwhile, BJP workers reached the Bandra Police Station and raised slogans against CM Uddhav Thackeray.

Former Maharashtra CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis tweeted a video of Kirit Somaiya and said that law and order situation in Mumbai and Maharashtra had collapsed.

MLA Ravi Rana and his wife independent MP Navneet Rana were arrested in Mumbai on Saturday. The MP-MLA couple had arrived in Mumbai and threatened to recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Matoshree.
