The IPL 2022 has been gradually getting more and more enticing. The interest of people is soaring with the progress of matches. All are waiting anxiously for today’s mouth-watering match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Both teams have several exciting players who must blast off tonight at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

On paper, RCB and KKR look parallel. KKR kicked off its IPL 2022 campaign in style, defeating CSK by 6 wickets. But this is the early days of the tournament. The morale of KKR is high after the victory over the favourites, CSK.

KKR likes to continue its winning streak

Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) played the first match like a cong in the wheel and overcame CSK. But it would be a mistake to take RCB lightly. The Bangalore side is studded with stars. Former South African Faf du Plessis is a seasoned campaigner. He knows every aspect of the game.

Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj, Faf du Plessis, and others in the side have the ability to change the complexion of the match within a few overs. All are proven cricketers. Virat Kohli’s bat has been silent for a long time. It is a conducive time for the former Indian captain to regain his old form and touch.

Ajinkya Rahane, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav and others will exhibit their batting and bowling prowess. At this stage, Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, and some other youngsters have a chance to impress the team management and the BCCI selectors to cement their place in the India team.

RCB bowlers need to be economical

The bowling of RCB is a worry. In the first match, RCB bowlers failed to defend 205 runs against PBKS. Meanwhile, KKR restricted CSK to a paltry 131 and won the match quite easily.

Usually, a team, after winning the toss, elects to bowl first. Most teams opt to chase due to dew factors. The DY Patil Stadium has huge square boundaries and small straight ones. Fours and sixes can be rained on the “v” down the ground, and there are opportunities to run twos and threes when the ball travels a little squarer.

IPL Head to Head: RCB 13-16 KKR. The Knight Riders triumphed in two of the three matches against RCB last year, including the Eliminator clash. The record of KKR at the DY Patil Stadium is superb. The team hasn’t lost even a single game on this ground, while RCB’s record is not encouraging, having won once of the three matches they have played here.
