Washington: Making his way to US President-elect Joe Biden’s COVID-19 Response team, another Indian-American Vidur Sharma has secured an eminent post of Policy Advisor for Testing Covid in US, on Friday,

The announcement of Sharma’s appointment as testing advisor in Joe Biden’s COVID-19 Response Team was made by the US president himself on Friday along with additional members of the White House COVID-19 Response Team.

Vidur Sharma, a boy born to Indian-immigrants surely grabbed attention after bagging such an eminent role in Joe Biden’s office on Friday. Sharma, however, has also served as a health policy advisor on the Domestic Policy Council, in Obama administration,.

In his tenue health policy advisor, Sharma supported the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, aligned Federal Department and Agencies, and collaborated with community stakeholders to further the administration’s health policy agenda.

He also served as Deputy Research Director with ‘Protect Our Care’, a coalition of advocacy organisations dedicated to preventing the repeal of the ACA. Since then, he has been advising health sector organisations on value-based care arrangements at PwC Strategy.

Origin & background

Born to Indian immigrants in Wisconsin, Vidur Sharma was raised in Minnesota and is a graduate of Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Saint Louis University.

The Transition stated that the appointees will help to effectively carryout implementation and execution of Biden’s strategy to effectively and equitably vaccinate as many people as possible, while also increasing testing and taking other important measures that will be key to changing the course of the pandemic.
