Kolkata: The body of a 21-year-old man, son of a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) employee, was found on Monday from the gallery of Eden Gardens in West Bengal’s Kolkata. As per the prima facie, the victim was probably going through some acute mental stress that ultimately made him take such an extreme step. The deceased was identified as Dhananjay Barik. Barik’s father and uncle had been associated with the Eden Gardens as groundsman. A probe has been launched in the matter.

The Kolkata Police has said a missing complaint was registered in the Maidan police state on December 17.

A city police official said that the investigating officials have commenced a probe to ascertain whether this was a case of suicide or there was some kind of foul play behind this incident, according to sources.

The victim, who hails from neighbouring Odisha, came to Kolkata in hopes of getting a groundsman job at Eden Garden like his father and uncle. He started to reside at the quarter which was provided to his father and uncle, as per sources.
