New Delhi: At least 9 soldiers were killed when a military vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Leh, Ladakh. The martyrs include 2 JCOs and 7 soldiers of the army. Police has given this information on Saturday evening.
The condition of the injured jawan is serious.
Leh’s Senior Superintendent of Police PD Nitya said the army vehicle carrying 10 soldiers was on its way from Leh to Nyoma. On the way, the driver of the vehicle lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a gorge, they said. A police team reached the spot and all the injured soldiers were taken to Army Medical Unit where 8 personnel were declared brought dead.
He said that two injured were brought to the military hospital in Leh for treatment. Where one of them passed away shortly after. The condition of another injured remains critical. He said that the martyrs and injured jawans belong to 311 Medium Regiment Artillery of the Army.
