land-for-job scam case: CBI raids 9 locations including Delhi, action on Lalu’s close Premchand

Bihar: Once again, raids are on against Lalu's close aides in the land-for-job scam case. The CBI is conducting raids at nine locations including Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Patna in this case. According to sources, the CBI is conducting raids at several locations in Patna and Arrah, including the ancestral residence of RJD MLA Kiran Devi and former RJD MLA Arun Yadav.

Bihar: Once again, raids are on against Lalu’s close aides in the land-for-job scam case. The CBI is conducting raids at nine locations including Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Patna in this case. According to sources, the CBI is conducting raids at several locations in Patna and Arrah, including the ancestral residence of RJD MLA Kiran Devi and former RJD MLA Arun Yadav.

This CBI raid is also going on at the places of Prem Chand Gupta, considered close to Lalu, in Noida, Delhi and Gurugram. The CBI team reached Agiaon (Ara), the ancestral residence of RJD MLA Kiran Devi and former MLA Arun Yadav on Tuesday morning. where the raided and a CBI team is conducting raids in Patna.

Kiran Devi is the MLA of Sandesh assembly constituency and her husband Arun Yadav has an image as a Bahubali. Kiran Devi is considered one of the MLAs close to Lalu Yadav. Arun Yadav has also been very close to RJD supremo Lalu Yadav. His relation with the Lalu family has been very good.

Arun Yadav was caught in a minor rape case last year and had to surrender. However, he was acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence. Prem Chand Gupta is also very close to Lalu.The case pertains to appointments made in the Railways in lieu of land allegedly gifted or sold to Lalu Prasad’s family when he was Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009. The CBI is also probing this.

The CBI has said in its charge sheet that appointments were made in the Railways in violation of the laid down norms and procedures of the Indian Railways.Just after Holi, the ED also raided the residence of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in Delhi. After which many political parties called it an act of revenge.

The Enforcement Directorate issued a statement saying that the value of the land allegedly acquired by Lalu Yadav’s family in the land case in lieu of job during his tenure as Railway Minister is currently around Rs 200 crore. The central agency had also released a long list of other properties accusing Lalu Prasad’s family of corruption and said that this property was also acquired by the Yadav family through that scam.

The ED said that the PMLA probe conducted so far has revealed that a number of lands at prime locations in Patna and other areas were illegally acquired by the family of the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in lieu of getting them jobs in the Railways.
