The Delhi High Court has ordered Tejashwi Yadav to appear at the CBI office in Delhi at 10.30 am on March 25. However, during the hearing, the CBI has assured the court that Tejashwi Yadav will not be arrested in this case this month.
In fact, the CBI probing the Land for Job scam case had issued summons to Tejashwi Yadav and called him for questioning. Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the summons of the CBI. Tejashwi had demanded the cancellation of the summons issued by the CBI. This was opposed by the CBI. The CBI assured not to arrest him in the court.
On behalf of Tejashwi Yadav, it was said in the court, notice under section 160 of CrPC can be issued only in the local jurisdiction. The CBI is in blatant violation of the law by issuing notices to him to appear in Delhi, while he lives in Patna.
Not only this, Tejashwi’s lawyer said in the court that Tejashwi has been summoned to Delhi for questioning by issuing three summons. While they live in Patna. Now the assembly session is going on. Time was sought from the CBI. Tejashwi claimed that he had come to Delhi for a day when his pregnant wife was unwell.
CBI opposed Tejashwi Yadav’s arguments. It was said by the CBI that the assembly session does not take place on Saturday, so they can come on Saturday. The court asked Tejashwi Yadav to appear in the CBI office on January 25. At the same time, the CBI assured the Delhi High Court that he will not be arrested in this case this month.
This case of land for job scam is 14 years old. At that time Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister. It is claimed that Lalu Yadav, while being the Railway Minister, had written off the land of the people instead of giving them jobs in the railways. Let us tell you that Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. The CBI had registered a case on May 18 in this matter. According to the CBI, the men were first recruited as substitutes for Group D posts in the railways and regularized when their families made land deals.
