Land scam case : Lakhs in cash, jewellery found by ED at homes of Lalu Yadav’s daughters

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate has raided the locations of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his relatives. Lalu is accused of a land scam in exchange for a job. ED had raided the places of Lalu family, his relatives, RJD leaders in many cities including Bihar. Now ED has made many big claims. ED said that Rs 70 lakh cash and jewelery have been recovered from the residence of Lalu’s two daughters including Ragini Yadav. The investigating agency has also made other big claims.

The ED also clarified the allegations of harassment and said- all legal formalities were completely followed while conducting the search and women, children and senior citizens present in the search premises were treated with proper courtesy. The ED said that there is a four-storey bungalow at D-1088, New Friends Colony, Delhi, registered in the name of M/s AB Exports Private Limited, owned and controlled by Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and family. This property was shown to be acquired for just Rs 4 lakh, whose current market value is around Rs 150 crore.

During the search, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav was found staying in this house and was found using this house as his residential property. ED has recovered unaccounted cash of Rs 1 crore during searches in connection with the Land for Job scam. Apart from this, foreign currency including 1900 US dollars, 540 grams of gold bullion and more than 1.5 kg of gold jewelery (worth about Rs 1.25 crore) have been recovered.

The ED has also recovered various property documents, sale deed, land bank and electronic devices and some incriminating documents in the name of family members and benamidars. The ED has so far found evidence of proceeds of crime to the tune of Rs 600 crore. These include fixed assets worth Rs 350 crore. Transactions worth Rs 250 crore have been done through various benamidars.

The ED alleges that the investigation conducted so far has revealed that many lands at prime locations in Patna and other areas were illegally acquired by the family of the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in lieu of getting them jobs in the Railways. The current market value of these lands is more than ₹ 200 crores. In this regard, many benamidars, fake organizations and beneficial owners have been identified for these lands.

ED investigation has found that 4 parcels of land were acquired by Lalu Yadav’s family from poor Group D applicants for just 7.5 Lakhs and Rabri Devi dealt this land with former RJD MLA Syed Abu Dojana and sold it for a whopping 3.5 Crores. Sold with profit. ED’s investigation further revealed that a major part of the amount thus received was transferred to Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s account.

In the investigation, it was found that in the same way land was taken from many poor parents and candidates in lieu of Group D jobs in Railways. During the investigation, it has been revealed that more than 50 percent of the candidates recruited in many railway zones were from the constituencies of the Lalu Yadav family. Further investigation is going on in this regard. Investigation is underway to find out more investments made by Lalu Yadav’s family and their associates in real estate and other areas at various places.

This case of land for job scam is 14 years old. This scam is from the time when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister. It is claimed that Lalu Yadav, when he was the railway minister, got the land written off instead of giving jobs to the people in the railways. Let us tell that Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. The CBI had registered a case in this matter on 18 May.

According to the CBI, the people were first recruited as substitutes in Group D posts in the Railways and were regularized when their families made a land deal. The CBI says that Lalu Yadav’s family has allegedly encroached upon 1.05 lakh square feet of land in Patna. The deal of these lands was done in cash. Recently, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has issued summons to Lalu Yadav’s family in connection with the Land for Job scam. In this case, Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi and her daughter Misa Bharti have to appear in the court on 15 March.
