Chennai: A leaked audio tape alleged to be of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa has gone viral on social media following the presentation of the Arumughaswamy Commission’s report to the Tamil Nadu assembly earlier this week.
The investigation report found fault with Sasikala, a close aide to Jayalalithaa, her relative doctor, Asiva Kumar, former health minister C Vijayabhaskar, and Radhakrishnan, a former health secretary. In response, Sasikala criticised the report and claimed that Jayalalithaa’s passing was being politicised.
In the midst of this, a viral audio tape purportedly depicting Jayalalithaa being treated in a hospital has gone viral. In the tape, Jayalalitha can be heard becoming irritated; coughing continuously, and complaining while a staff worker tries to record data.
The video of Doctor Richard Beale went viral in 2017, after his press conference in Chennai.
Richard Beale can be heard on the video stating that it was a tricky balance in the beginning. Sasikala asked whether it was necessary for Jayalalithaa to go abroad.
The doctor said that she must go, and they agreed. But, later, Jayalalithaa herself denied going abroad for her treatment.
The Arumughaswamy Commission’s report has been raising several questions regarding Jayalalithaa’s time of death being delayed by an hour, angiography had not taken place, and the intervention of Sasikala in her treatment. These are the crucial points.
