In a concerning incident, a leopard has managed to escape from a quarantine centre located near a zoo in Pune, Maharashtra. The incident occurred on Monday, and immediate efforts have been initiated to recapture the feline. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials, along with fire personnel, are actively involved in a thorough search within the quarantine centre premises, with the entire area cordoned off.
The leopard, born at a zoo in Karnataka, had recently been transferred to the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in the Katraj area of Pune. As part of standard protocol, the animal was undergoing quarantine at the designated facility.
Despite being spotted in the CCTV footage within the quarantine premises, the leopard managed to escape on Monday morning. Currently suspected to be hiding in the thick bushes surrounding the area, authorities are conducting an intensive operation to recapture the feline.
