Congress Supports NDA Speaker Candidate, Demands Deputy Speaker Post: Rahul Gandhi

Lok Sabha Speaker Election: The election of the 18th Lok Sabha Speaker is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, for which candidates will have to file nomination papers by 12 noon on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced his support to the government candidate. But along with this, Rahul has demanded to give the post of Vice President to the opposition.

Lok Sabha Speaker Election: The election of the 18th Lok Sabha Speaker is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, for which candidates will have to file nomination papers by 12 noon on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced his support to the government candidate. But along with this, Rahul has demanded to give the post of Vice President to the opposition.

Congress MP from Rae Bareli Rahul Gandhi said on Tuesday, ‘We have told Rajnath Singh that we will support his President (candidate) but the tradition is that the post of Vice President will be given to the opposition.’ ‘Today it is written in the newspaper that PM Modi has said that the opposition should constructively cooperate with the government. Rajnath Singh called Mallikarjun Kharge and asked him to support the Speaker.

Rahul further said, ‘The entire opposition said that we will support the Speaker, but the tradition is that the post of Deputy Speaker should be given to the opposition. Rajnath Singh had said that he will call Mallikarjun Kharge, but he has not done so yet… PM Modi is seeking cooperation from the opposition but our leader is being insulted….

SP chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav said, ‘Soon everything will come to light… The opposition’s demand was that the Deputy Speaker (of the Lok Sabha) should be from the opposition. Our party also has the same opinion.
