Till now, NHAI has completed about 65% of land acquisition while the remaining is expected to be completed by the first week of December. The authorities are also deliberating upon the need for a flyover, given the hampered connectivity at the NH 27 intersection.

The 6-lane corridor will reportedly be built over a stretch of 63 km and join Lucknow Airport and the Azad Chauraha near Ganga Barrage. There are prospects of amplifying it to an 8-lane facility in the future. Once completed, the expressway will not only reduce traffic jams but the journey from Lucknow to Kanpur will get reduced from 1.5 hours to 45 minutes.

As per the proposal, 13-km of expressway from Lucknow’s Amausi to Bani would be elevated. The expressway will be connected to proposed Ring Road in Kanpur. The expressway will start near Shaheed Path and after this Nawabganj will be connected with Kanpur via Banthra, Bani, Datouli and Kantha.
