Lucknow: While the whole country is hit with a more contagious second wave of Coronavirus, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, too witnesses a surge in fresh Covid cases with more than 50 recorded cases in past 24 hours in the city on Wednesday since the beginning of the year.
This sudden spike in the cases, on Wednesday, compelled the authorities to appeal people to follow safety protocols with full vigour to check the second wave of the pandemic that has already surfaced in several cities of the country.
As per health ministry data, at least 54 people contracted the infection in the past 24 hours, making city’s tally to be the highest in the state.
These fresh cases of Covid infections were reported – seven from Madiaon, six from Indiranagar, four each from Alambagh and Chinhat and three each from Gomtinagar, Jankipuram and Talkatora among others.
So far, no casualty has been reported, while 17 patients recovered from the infection in the past 24 hours, which was way lower than the number of new cases. This has added to the worries as recoveries have been lower than the incidence for the past several days.
The number of patients with active infection status in Lucknow has now reached 320, while city’s total tally now stands at 82,267.
