India on Wednesday launched the 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The SUV will be locally assembled at the automaker’s Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra. Wrangler will be available in two variants in India- Unlimited and Rubicon. The Unlimited variant is priced at Rs 53.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and the Rubicon Variant is priced at Rs 57.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2021 Wrangler undercuts the outgoing 2020 model by Rs 10.04 lakh due to the localization. The deliveries have commenced for the model.
“Indian customers have always desired the legendary Jeep Wrangler, and I am pleased that today we are able to bring this to them, assembled in India,” Jeep India Managing Director Partha Datta said in a virtual launch event.
2021 Jeep Wrangler is powered by a 2.0-litre, in-line 4-cylinder turbo-petrol mill which churns out 268 hp of power and offers a peak torque of 400 Nm. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Both the variants feature a 4×4 powertrain.
The Rubicon variant of the Wrangler comes with a few more additions to its powertrain including the RockTrac 4×4 technology and TruLok differentials in both the axles. What enhances the off-roading prowess of the top-end variant is the Offroad+ mode. The driving mode adapts to the terrain the SUV is taking on for optimal performance.
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon variant comes with a ground clearance of 217mm, a water-wading capacity of 760mm and a thick gauge boron steel underbody and skid plates which complement its adventurous character while making it safer too.
While Rubicon is a better off-roader, the Unlimited variant is also a trail-rated off-roaded and features 18-inch aluminium alloys and all-season tyres. The SelecTrac 4×4 system with an active 4WD transfer case enhances the driving experience regardless of the terrain the SUV takes on.
On the inside, both the variants come with plush leather seats, a soft-leather-finish dashboard, Uconnect infotainment with smartphone compatibility, steering mounted controls, cruise control, engine start/stop button and two-zone AC. Some other common features shared by the variants include auto headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED taillamps, LED DRLs, removable doors, hardtop and a fold-flat front windshield.
The Jeep Wrangler will be available in 5 colour schemes- bright white, sting grey, granite crystal, black and firecracker red. The customers will be able to customize their Jeep Wrangler with over 120 Mopar-original accessories. And customers will be able to further personalize their vehicle with 4 available accessory packs- Explorer pack, Night Ultra Vision pack, Sports pack and Essential pack.
