Tripathi has been serving life sentence in Gorakhpur Jail for nearly 20 years. However, orders for premature release of Amarmani Tripathi and his wife have been issued. In view of the good conduct of both, the Prison Administration Department has issued the order after the order of the Supreme Court.
Let us tell you that the Supreme Court had ordered the release of prisoners who behaved well in the past. After which Amarmani approached the Supreme Court for his release. The Supreme Court had ordered his release on 10 February 2023 on his petition. But, he was not released. A contempt petition was filed on behalf of Amarmani.
After this, the Supreme Court passed the order of release on 18 August. In which it was written that those who are 66 years of age and have been in jail for about 20 years and are not involved in any other dispute in view of their good conduct, should be released.
Lakhimpur-based poetess Madhumita Shukla came in contact with former minister Amarmani Tripathi and their relationship turned into love. Meanwhile Madhumita became pregnant and forced her to have an abortion. But, he refused to do so.
Meanwhile, Madhumita, who was 7 months pregnant, was shot dead on May 9, 2003 in Paper Mill Colony, Nishatganj, Lucknow. DNA test revealed that the unborn child belonged to Amarmani Tripathi. Due to this incident, there was an earthquake in the political circle of UP.
The relatives of Madhumita Shukla filed a case, in which former minister Amarmani Tripathi, his wife Madhumani Tripathi, nephews, Rohit Mani Tripathi, Santosh Rai and Pawan Pandey were named as accused. At that time there was a BSP government in the state and Amarmani Tripathi was the minister in it. After 20 days of investigation, the CBD handed over the entire case to the CBI.
