Madhya Pradesh: 4 Killed after scrap-laden truck falls on car while overtaking

Guna/MP: Tragedy strikes after four members of a same family lost their lives and two sustained severe injuries after a scrap-laden truck fell on their car while trying to overtake it as fog enveloped the national highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna on Tuesday morning.

Police said a couple and two of their daughters from the Rajgarh district of the state died in the accident that took place on NH 46 near Gadha in Guna amid poor visibility due to fog.

Police added that the injured passengers in the car were pulled out and sent to a nearby hospital.

They said when the scrap-laden truck tried to overtake the car, it lost control and fell on the car.

Police said that when the truck loaded with scrap tried to overtake the car, it lost control and fell on the car. According to sources, the truck was carrying more than 40 tonnes of scrap and as soon as it fell on the car, it was reduced to a mangled and flattened vehicle. Police contacted the families of the victims with the help of the car’s registration number.

Since the truck was very heavy, the police used a crane to lift it and a JCB machine to remove the scrap. Police said they could move the truck forward only after removing the scrap, adding that local people also rushed to help the victims.
