According to the information, Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against four people in this regard. The incident took place on September 16 in Nimni village of the district, an official said.
Sausar police station in-charge Jitendra Yadav said farmer Anand Thackeray hanged himself from a tree in his field on Saturday and left a suicide note accusing some moneylenders of harassment. The family of the deceased person and villagers protested demanding legal action.
He said, against the moneylenders whose names are in the suicide note. Sausar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) DVS Nagar said a case has been registered against the four people under Indian Penal Code section 306 (abetment of suicide) and provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Borrowers Protection Act. Two of them are being interrogated.
He said that Thackeray has also named a company in the suicide note and after investigation, names of other accused will also be added in the case. In the suicide note, the deceased has claimed that he had paid his dues and the amount was more. More than the original amount, the official said. To repay the loan, Thackeray even mortgaged his farm and a plot to a company, but the harassment continued, he said.
