Madhya Pradesh: Another cheetah dies in Kuno National Park, injury marks found on neck

Bhopal: Another cheetah has died in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park. According to the information received, male cheetah Tejas died on Tuesday. In Kuno National Park, the monitoring team found the male cheetah Tejas in an injured state on Tuesday morning. There were wound marks on his neck.

Bhopal: Another cheetah has died in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park. According to the information received, male cheetah Tejas died on Tuesday. In Kuno National Park, the monitoring team found the male cheetah Tejas in an injured state on Tuesday morning. There were wound marks on his neck.

The team of experts took the male cheetah Tejas out of the enclosure and took him to the hospital for treatment. Tejas died during the treatment itself. The injuries suffered by Tejas are being ascertained. The cause of death can be ascertained after the post mortem.

On behalf of Kuno National Park, it was said, “On Tuesday morning at around 11:00 am, the monitoring team saw the male cheetah Tejas in a state of unconsciousness. Injuries were found on the upper part of his neck. This was reported by the monitoring team at Palpur headquarters.” Gave it to the team of doctors present.

The team reached the spot and examined Tejas’s injuries. Then he was taken to the hospital. The male cheetah Tejas died at around 2 pm. His neck injuries are being investigated.

According to the report, out of the cheetahs brought from Namibia in South Africa, 4 cheetahs and 3 cubs have died so far. Out of this, six-year-old cheetah ‘Uday’ is also included, who died in April. Earlier, the leopard ‘Sasha’ had also died.

Let us inform that on 17 September 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had released 8 cheetahs from Namibia in Kuno National Park on his birthday. On February 18 this year, 12 more cheetahs from South Africa were released in Kuno. That is, altogether 20 cheetahs were brought from Namibia and South Africa.

Out of a total of 20 cheetahs brought from South Africa and Namibia, four have died so far. Jwala, a female cheetah brought from Namibia, had given birth to four cubs. Three of these cubs have died. The fourth cub is running ill.

The female cheetah Shasa was the first to die in Kuno National Park. Shasa Kuno National Park could not adapt to the weather and died due to illness. Now only 16 cheetahs are left.
It has already been said in the Cheetah project that out of 20 cheetahs that came in the first year, if even 10 i.e. 50% survive, then this project will be considered successful.
