Madhya Pradesh to Implement Water Police and Water Ambulance Services, Announces CM Mohan Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made significant announcements during a key meeting of the Narmada Control Board, highlighting initiatives to enhance water management and irrigation in Madhya Pradesh. These include the introduction of water police and water ambulance services to improve safety and accessibility for residents along major rivers.

Ken-Betwa Project Preparation
Dr. Yadav has directed swift preparations for the Bhoomi Pujan of the Ken-Betwa project, aimed at providing affordable electricity to farmers. This project is crucial for improving irrigation and boosting agricultural productivity.

Beautification of Narmada Ghats
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to ensure continuous water flow and cleanliness at major ghats along the Narmada River. Efforts will include beautification projects and enhanced sanitation measures to maintain the river’s aesthetic and environmental health.

Central Government Support

In discussions with Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and other state ministers, Dr. Yadav secured special support from the Central Government for Madhya Pradesh’s water conservation and river linking projects. Key projects include the Ken-Betwa Link Project and the Parvati-Kalisindh Project.

Expansion of Irrigation
The meeting also covered various irrigation projects under the Narmada Valley Development Authority, including the Badadev Joint Micro Irrigation Project, Ma Rewa Lift Irrigation Project, and several others. These projects aim to expand irrigation facilities and ensure adequate water supply for agricultural purposes.

Transportation and Tourism Development
Transport Facilities for Villagers
Dr. Yadav highlighted the need for improved transportation facilities for villagers living along the Narmada River. This includes developing infrastructure and ensuring better connectivity for remote areas.

Tourism and Water Sports
The Chief Minister instructed the development of sheds and other facilities for pilgrims performing Narmada Parikrama. Additionally, there will be a focus on promoting water sports and tourism activities to boost the local economy.

Environmental and Biodiversity Research
Biodiversity and Renewable Energy:
Research on Narmada Valley’s biodiversity will be prioritized, along with initiatives to encourage pearl cultivation among farmers. Renewable energy sources, such as solar floating plants, will be explored, and potential investors will be invited to the upcoming Global Summit.

Small Cargo Ships and Fish Farming
Efforts will be made to explore the operation of small cargo ships and fish farming along the Narmada River, providing new opportunities for local communities.

Implementation of Water Police and Ambulance Services
Safety and Accessibility:
Dr. Yadav announced the establishment of a water police system to ensure the safety of residents on major ghats and riverbanks. Additionally, water ambulances will be operated to provide better emergency connectivity and medical services for villagers.

Crisis Management
The Chief Minister also directed that water availability be ensured in reservoirs like Yashwant Sagar to prevent crises during the summer months through effective water accumulation strategies.
