A bus full of devotees going for Sai darshan has met with an accident in Shirdi, Maharashtra. There has been a head-on collision between a private tourist bus and a truck on the Sinnar-Shirdi highway. There is information about the death of 10 passengers in the accident. Along with this, many people in the bus are seriously injured.
Nashik Shirdi Highway: A horrific accident took place on the Nashik-Shirdi Highway near Pathare village. At least 10 Devotees died and 12 others were seriously injured after a bus going to Shirdi collided with a truck in Maharashtra. Most of the passengers aboard the private comfort bus are said to be seriously injured. There were about 50 people in the bus.
According to the police, this is one of the 15 buses that left for Sai Darshan from Ulhasnagar. A horrific accident took place in the bus of Sai devotees in the early hours of Friday. The police team has reached the spot and relief and rescue work is going on. The injured were taken to the Sinnar Rural Hospital and Yashwant Hospital in Sinnar.
The death count may increase as the condition of some of the injured was said to be critical, officials said.
CM EXPRESSES GRIEF
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed grief over the incident and announced a financial help of ₹ 5 lakh each for the family members of those who died. The government will bear the expenses of the treatment of the injured persons, a statement from his office said.
Mr Shinde spoke to the Nashik divisional commissioner and asked him to shift the injured immediately to Nashik and Shirdi for treatment and also conduct an inquiry into the causes of the accident, it added.
