New Delhi: Thirty students of an ashram school in eastern Maharashtra Bhandara district were admitted to the hospital due to suspected food poisoning. The incident took place on Thursday at Ashram School in Tumsar town, an official said on Friday.
Bhandara district health officer Milind Somkuwar said, “Some students of the ashram school complained of vomiting, stomach pain and fever on Thursday, following which a team of the district health department examined 325 students staying in the school’s hostel.”
“The health department has collected samples of food and water for testing,” Somkuvar said. As of now, no further information is available on the matter and the condition of the children is said to be stable.
Significantly, Ashram schools are residential schools, which provide education up to secondary level to the children of tribal communities.
