According to the information received, Jitendra Shinde, accused in the heinous murder case, hanged himself with the help of his own clothes in the early hours of today. Officials arrived as soon as information about the incident was received. The police sent the body to Sassoon Hospital. The cause of death can be confirmed after the post mortem report comes.
Jitendra Shinde was serving his sentence in Yerwada jail for about five years. In 2017, the fast track court had convicted all three accused, including Shinde, in the rape and murder of a minor schoolgirl in Kopardi.
In this case, all three accused were sentenced to death by the special court of Ahmednagar on 29 November 2017. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 20-20 thousand was also imposed on all three.
After this, accused Santosh Bhawal challenged the sentence in the Aurangabad bench of Mumbai High Court. Whereas the government also approached the High Court to confirm the death sentence given by the district court. At present the hearing of the case is pending. During this period, all three accused have been kept in Yerwada jail.
A minor girl was raped and brutally murdered on 13 July 2016 in Kopardi, Ahmednagar district. This incident created a stir in the state. In this case, the police had arrested Nitin Bhailume, Jitendra Shinde and Santosh Bhawal.
