Ahmednagar: A major accident took place in a sugar mill in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra on Saturday (February 25) due to boiler explosion. It is being told that there have been explosions in four tanks due to the fire. The fire has been burning since seven in the evening. Till the time of writing the news, the fire could not be completely extinguished. Two people have been injured in the accident, the rest have been taken out safely. About a dozen fire brigade vehicles reached the spot to extinguish the fire. The fire was so fierce that its flames could be seen even from a distance of three kilometers.
Gangamai sugar mill blast
Sources told that there was a blast in the distillery unit of Gangamai Sugar Mill located in Shevgaon, Ahmednagar. Because of that, there was a huge fire in the factory, fortunately, before the incident, more than 30 laborers working in the factory came out. A few minutes later there was an explosion. There were 32 people inside, out of which two people were slightly injured and 30 people got out safely. The injured were sent for treatment.

Fire brigade officers and administration people are present on the spot. Ethanol was made in the factory. A statement is yet to come from the administration regarding the reason for the fire. The owner of the factory told ABP News that possibly short circuit could be the cause of the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be officially confirmed. It is feared that it may take time till morning to control the fire.
According to other reports, ethanol is prepared in the mill from sugarcane juice, sugar solution, barley and maize, which is made in its distillery plant. There was an explosion in this plant. It is very inflammable, so the fire took a huge form in no time. After this, as soon as the accident was reported, fire brigade vehicles from Ahmednagar, Aurangabad and Shevgaon reached the spot to douse the fire.
