Maharashtra: Nine killed, several injured in blast at explosives manufacturing factory in Nagpur

According to the details, the blast unfolded at nearly 9.30 am today, at Solar Industries India Limited, located in the Bajargaon area. Several others were reported to be injured in the incident, with some being in critical condition.

Nagpur: Tragedy strikes after Nine people were killed in a blast that occurred at a solar explosive company located 55 kilometers from Nagpur in Bazaar village. The explosion has reportedly resulted in the loss of nine lives, and the casualty count is feared to rise. The blast occurred during the packing process in the Cast Booster Plant.

According to the details, the blast unfolded at nearly 9.30 am today, at Solar Industries India Limited, located in the Bajargaon area. Several others were reported to be injured in the incident, with some being in critical condition.

A police team reached the site as soon as they received information about the incident. Post-explosion, a portion of the building collapsed, and the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed. The Superintendent of Police in Nagpur Rural informed that four injured individuals have been rescued from the accident site and transported to the hospital. The rescue operation is ongoing, and there could be more people trapped inside.

The intensity of the explosion was such that a portion of the building collapsed, making rescue operations challenging. The exact number of casualties is still under assessment, and officials are conducting intensive searches at the site to ensure the safety of those affected.

CM announces Rs 5 lakh aid for victims’ families
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has pledged financial support of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic explosion at Solar Industries in Nagpur.

Expressing sorrow over the incident, Deputy CM Fadnavis shared his condolences via a tweet, stating, “It is very unfortunate that 9 people including 6 women died in the explosion at Solar Industries in Nagpur. It is a company that manufactures drones and explosives for the defence forces.” He further informed that the local authorities, including the Nagpur Collector, Superintendent of Police, IG, SP, and Collector, are actively coordinating efforts at the accident site. Fadnavis assured that the state government will extend financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased individuals affected by this unfortunate incident

The Solar Industries explosion has prompted authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. The cause of the blast is unknown, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a DCP rank officer has been assigned to investigate the matter. Along with the SIT, company officials and local authorities are also working to find out the cause of the incident and implement measures to prevent similar tragedies in future.

The incident has cast a dark shadow over Solar Industries, one of the leading suppliers of explosives and defense equipment in India, and raised serious questions about safety procedures within the industry.
