Maharashtra on high alert after ‘Oman Boats’ carrying AK 47 rifles found near Harihareshwar beach in Raigad

There has been a stir in Harihareshwar (Raigad district) of Maharashtra after a suspicious boat was found in the sea. AK 47 rifles and some live cartridges were found on the boat. Alert has been issued in entire Raigad district.

Raigad: There has been a stir in Harihareshwar (Raigad district) of Maharashtra after a suspicious boat was found in the sea. AK 47 rifles and some live cartridges were found on the boat. Alert has been issued in entire Raigad district. The police team that reached the spot has taken possession of the weapons and started investigation. 26/11-like terror attack averted?

This matter has been raised in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Today (August 14, Thursday) is the second day of the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Aditi Tatkare, NCP leader and guardian minister of Raigad district in the Aghadi government, raised this matter in the assembly. The time of festivals is going on at this time in Maharashtra as well as across the country. Ganesh festival is also going to come along with Janmashtami. At such a time, there is an atmosphere of panic in the district due to the recovery of weapons from the suspicious boat.

A blockade has also been enforced across the Maharashtra district as a precautionary measure.

A team of the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad is also leaving Mumbai for Alibaug and ATS chief Vinit Agrawal is accompanying the team. Further, bomb squad has also been rushed to the spot.

Meanwhile, officials of the Raigad Police have been reported as saying that the vessel, a security boat, belonged to Oman security which had come to the Raigad shore. Dismantled sophisticated weapons have been recovered from the boat which are of no use to anyone. However, the police are still investigating this matter. Central agencies have also been informed and they are also monitoring the investigation.
