Maharashtra: On Saturday, police said that a woman labourer was killed after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) hit her in Palghar district of Maharashtra. He was 60-year-old. After receiving information about this incident, police reached on the spot.
They further said that after which a group of angry locals smashed the vehicle and thrashed its two occupants. He added that the incident happened on Satpala-Rajodi Road in Vasai area on Saturday and the two SUV occupants were later arrested.
An official from Arnala Sagri police station said that the woman, who hailed from Murbad in neighboring Thane district and worked as a laborer in Satpala, was going home with a colleague when the speeding SUV hit her.
He said that the woman fell and died on the spot. After receiving information about the incident, some locals rushed to the spot. They allegedly threw stones at the SUV and hit its windshield and windows with rods.
The officer said that they also caught two people traveling in the car and beat them up.On social media platforms, a video of the damaged car went viral .
The officer said that police reached the spot and took two people in the car into custody. He added that the woman’s body was sent to the government hospital for postmortem, after which the angry locals dispersed.
