Maharashtra: Three injured in building slab collapses in Thane’s Kalwa

Thane: In a tragic incident, At least three people were injured when part of a slab fell from the first floor of a ground plus three-storey building in Thane’s Kalwa. The incident is of 43 Vikrant Housing Society on Monday morning. The video of the incident is being widely shared on social media.

According to RDMC, the disaster management cell got information about the incident at around 10.30 am. According to the information, the slab of Vikrant/43 building situated near Taran Lake in Manisha Nagar of Kalwa, Thane (West) collapsed. The building is a ground plus three storey structure and is about 38 years old. The slab collapsed on a saloon under the room on the first floor.

RDMC said that after being informed, officials of the Fire Department, Disaster Management Cell, Kalwa Police along with emergency vehicles and rescue vehicles reached the spot for the rescue operation.

“There are six shops and two rooms on the ground floor. The first floor of the building has six rooms,” an official said.

Those injured in the incident have been identified as 20-year-old Ayush Janu Dhamane, who has suffered severe head and hand injuries, 19-year-old Kadir Salmani, a salon worker, has minor injuries on his hand and 16-year-old Parth Nilesh Patekar. Came to the salon to get a haircut, got injuries on his eye and back.

The RDMC said that all the above injured were taken to Pramila Hospital in Manisha Nagar and are undergoing treatment. The RDMC said that all the six shops and rooms on the ground floor of the building have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

As a precautionary measure all the six shops on the ground floorof thebuilding and the rooms have been vacated, the RDMC added.
