Maine mass shooter who killed 18 in US’ state found dead after 48 hrs of deadly attack

Lewiston, United States: On Wednesday night US witness the deadly attack in Maine that kills at least 18 people and injures several. After an intense manhunt that lasted more than two days, police have found the body of the suspected accused in this case. Police suspect that the accused shot himself after committing this incident. However, the police is currently investigating this entire matter.

The body of 40-year-old Robert Card, who was the subject of a massive search after violence two days earlier that left 18 people dead, was found in woods about eight miles from Lewiston, sources said. The network said Card’s body was found near a recycling center where he had recently been dumped.

Sources cited saying Card had been found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Card is accused of carrying out the nation’s deadliest mass shooting of the year on Wednesday night. Apart from the deaths, another 13 people were injured in the bloodshed.

Authorities on Friday identified the victims, who ranged from a 70-year-old husband and wife to a 14-year-old boy who was killed along with his father.

The shooting – and Card’s fugitive status – brought fear to this tough town in southern Maine.

Card, a military reservist in the US Army, but had not been deployed in any combat zone. US media reported that he had recently been sent for psychiatric treatment after he said he was hearing voices.

The recent mass killing is one of the deadliest in the United States since 2017, when a gunman opened fire on a crowded music festival in Las Vegas, killing 60 people.

According to investigating officials, they recovered Card’s cellphone in the house. A gun was also confiscated inside a vehicle that he abandoned. According to Card’s relatives, he discussed about hearing voices with them and became more focused on the bowling alley and bar. He was earlier taken by police after military officials complained of him acting erratically.
