Major action of CBI in Balasore train tragedy, 3 accused railway employees arrested

New Delhi: CBI has taken major action in Balasore train tragedy. The investigating agency has arrested two senior railway section engineers Arun Kumar Mahanto and Mohammad Amir Khan, besides technician Soho Pappu. All three have been arrested under section 304/201 of IPC. However, it has not yet been told about the arrest from the CBI that which officer had committed which mistake, due to which this accident happened.

New Delhi: CBI has taken major action in Balasore train tragedy. The investigating agency has arrested two senior railway section engineers Arun Kumar Mahanto and Mohammad Amir Khan, besides technician Soho Pappu. All three have been arrested under section 304/201 of IPC.

However, it has not yet been told about the arrest from the CBI that which officer had committed which mistake, due to which this accident happened. After the accident, these three officers also tried to destroy the evidence so that the fault could not be blamed on them. This is the reason why CBI has also added Section 201 of IPC to the FIR.

These arrests have been made on the basis of the report given by the Safety Commissioner to the Railway Board regarding the Balasore train accident on Wednesday. It has been said in this report that in the year 2018, the repair work of the signal was done wrongly, which became the reason for the accident. Some repair work was done an hour before the accident, due to which the Coromandel Express collided with the goods train. Although the Railways has not shared this report with the media.

A horrific train accident took place on June 2 in Balasore district of Odisha. During this, 291 people had lost their lives. Along with this, more than one thousand people were also injured in this accident. The accident took place near Bahanaga Bazar station. At around 7 in the evening, the Coromandel Express leaving Kolkata collided with a stationary goods train, due to which most of its coaches were derailed. At the same time, the Bangalore-Howrah Express was passing from there. Some coaches behind the Coromandel Express collided with the Bengaluru Howrah Express. In this way, a total of three trains collided with each other in an accident.
