Major administrative reshuffle in Eknath Shinde’s Maharashtra government; transfers 44 IAS officers

In a major administrative reshuffle in Maharashtra, the Shinde-led Maharashtra government on Thursday took an important decision and transferred 44 IAS officers in the state.

Mumbai: In a major administrative reshuffle in Maharashtra, the Shinde-led Maharashtra government on Thursday took an important decision and transferred 44 IAS officers in the state. This is the first administrative change by the Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra.

According to reports, numerous IAS officers who were supposedly dropped from key departments during the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of Uddhav Thackeray have now resurfaced in key departments.

However, there have been no changes to the vital positions at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), or the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Milind Borikar, who worked for the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) while Devendra Fadnavis was the chief minister, has been appointed as the Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board’s Chief Officer. Vivek Bhimanwar, another officer who worked in the CMO, has been appointed as the Transport Secretary.

In addition, Osmanabad Collector Kaustubh Diwegaonkar has been appointed project director for the Pune-based Balasaheb Thakre Agri-Business and Rural Development Project.

Rajesh Narvekar, who had been working as a collector in CM Shinde’s hometown, Thane, since 2018, has been assigned a new post as municipal commissioner to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Interestingly, Narvekar’s son is the son-in-law of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.

Ashwini Joshi has been appointed to the Medical Education Department. Joshi is considered to be a favourite of Fadanvis’s chief troubleshooter and minister, Girish Mahajan.

Another IAS officer, Tukaram Munde, has been shifted to the Family Welfare Department. In fact, Munde is famous for his frequent transfers. This is Munde’s 18th posting in his 16 years’ service as an IAS officer.
