Major train accident averted after crack on base of Chennai Egmore Express coach found

A case of crack in a bogie has come to light in Tamil Nadu. However, due to the attention of the railwaymen, a big accident was avoided and a new coach was added to that coach by separating it from the train.

New Delhi: A major accident was averted and Coach S-3 was detached from the train after a crack was detected suddenly in the Kollam-Chennai Egmore Express train on Sunday. Relief work is still going on after the horrific train accident in Balasore, Odisha. Meanwhile, a case of crack in a bogie has come to light in Tamil Nadu. However, due to the attention of the railwaymen, a major accident was avoided and a new coach was added to that bogie after separating it from the train and then the train left. This whole matter is of Kollam-Chennai Egmore Express.

According to the information received, Kollam-Chennai Egmore Express was going from Kollam to Chennai. The train had just reached Sengottai station on Sunday evening when the attention of the railway workers fell on a crack in the lower part of a coach of the train. The lower part of S-3 coach of Kollam-Chennai Egmore Express had a crack.

The crack was near the wheel. As soon as the railway workers saw the big crack in the lower part of the bogie of the train, there was a stir. The railway workers immediately informed the officials about this. After this, the train was stopped there in a hurry.

The Kollam-Chennai Egmore Express was stopped at Sengottoi station itself and immediately the passengers in the cracked compartment were somehow pacified and shifted to adjacent compartments. This whole exercise took about an hour.

After an hour’s delay, the Kollam-Chennai Egmore Express was sent ahead and its information was also given to the officials of Madurai station. After this, when the train reached Madurai, the S-3 coach was separated and a new coach was added in its place and then all the passengers were shifted in it. It is being told that the crack was huge and was just above the wheel.
