The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested Aftab Ameen Poonawalla for allegedly murdering his 26-year-old live-in partner Shraddha Walker, chopping her body in 35 pieces and throwing them away.
New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Police has arrested Aftab Ameen Poonawalla, accused of killing his 26-year-old live-in partner Shraddha Walker about 5 months ago. According to police, Aftab had killed Shraddha and cut her body into 35 pieces and threw them in different areas of Delhi. On November 8, 59-year-old Vikas Madan Walker had lodged an FIR for kidnapping his daughter at the Mehrauli police station in Delhi.
Shraddha Walker, 26, used to work in a call center in a multinational company in Mumbai. There Shraddha met Aftab Ameen Poonawalla. Then both started liking each other and they started living in live-in relationship. When the family came to know about this relationship, they started protesting. After this protest, Shraddha and Aftab suddenly left Mumbai. After this he started living in Chhatarpur area of Mehrauli. But meanwhile Shraddha’s phone number started ringing.
Shraddha Walker’s father told that he along with his family lives in Palghar, Maharashtra. On November 8, when he reached Shraddha’s flat in Chhatarpur, where the daughter lived on rent, he found the door of the flat locked. Then he reached the Mehrauli police station and lodged an FIR with the police. The police caught Aftab last Saturday.
According to the police, Aftab told that Shraddha often pressurized him to get married. There used to be a fight between the two on this. On May 18, during a quarrel, he strangled Shraddha to death. After this, the dead body was cut into many pieces with chapadar and thrown in different areas of Delhi. He has also confessed that he kept throwing the pieces of the dead body at different places for 18 days. He had kept a big fridge to keep the dead body.
